Imo State governor sacks IMSU Vice Chancellor, Obasi

‎Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Friday approved the recommendation for the sacking of the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, Prof Adaobi Obasi.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Oguwike Nwachukwu, said in a statement that the decision to sack the VC was reached during a state executive council meeting.

The meeting was chaired by the governor.‎

The sacked VC is an aunt of a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.

She is to stop functioning in that capacity from December 30, 2020.‎

The council also approved the forensic audit of the university .

The planned forensic audit followed cases of corrupt practices contained in the report of the visitation panel that investigated IMSU’s activities between 2012 and 2019.
