Ekiti State Police have confirmed the rescue of Ilejemeje Local Government Vice Chairman, Mrs Grace Ogunleye, after a joint security operation forced her abductors to release her.

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of the Vice Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government Area, Mrs Grace Ogunleye, who was abducted on Wednesday while returning home.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, noting that the victim regained her freedom following a coordinated security operation.

According to the statement, the rescue mission involved operatives of the police, the military, other security agencies, and local security personnel who worked together to track down the kidnappers.

The police said sustained pressure from the combined security team forced the suspected abductors to abandon the victim, leading to her successful rescue.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Falade Adegoroye, has ordered a full investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend those behind the abduction.

Authorities assured residents of continued efforts to strengthen security and prevent future attacks in the state.
