Barely 24-hours after the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) lamented the deteriorating security situation the country, President Muhammadu Buhari is about now presiding over a meeting of the Security Council.
The meeting, holding inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, also has Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance.
All service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police are attending the meeting.
Others are the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; heads of the Department of State Services and National Intelligence Agency; Ministers of Justice, Police Affairs, Defence and Interior among others.
The Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi had on Monday expressed worries over the nation’s security, noting that urgent steps must be taken to protect lives and property of the citizens.
He also disclosed that the governors would be meeting with the president and the service chiefs very soon on the matter.
