The panel of inquiry set up by the Anambra State Government has substantiated claims that Mmesoma Ejikeme manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result. The panel’s eight-page report, which was made public yesterday, recommends that Mmesoma issue a written apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi, and the state government. Additionally, the report suggests that she undergo psychological counseling and therapy.

Appointed by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the eight-member panel was tasked with investigating the ongoing controversy surrounding the UTME results of Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student at Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi. The inquiry aimed to establish the facts of the case and make its findings available to the public.

The report, titled “Report of the Committee on Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s JAMB Score Controversy,” was addressed to Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and released by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, on behalf of the panel. It reveals that the panel conducted interviews with various parties involved, including Mmesoma, JAMB officials, and the principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School.

The findings of the panel state that Mmesoma had submitted a request to JAMB with a different registration number, claiming an aggregate score of 362, with scores of Eng: 98, Phy: 89, Bio: 94, and Che: 81. However, the panel discovered significant discrepancies in the registration number, date of birth, center name, and other aspects of the submission, exposing it as falsified. According to the panel, Mmesoma admitted to manipulating the fake results herself, using her phone.

The report further indicates that Mmesoma was aware of her true score, which JAMB confirmed as 249. The principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School and the Education Secretary, Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion), expressed their dismay at Mmesoma’s conduct during the investigation.

The panel’s recommendations call for Mmesoma to issue a written apology to JAMB, Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, and the state government. It also urges her to undergo psychological counseling and therapy to address the underlying reasons for her actions.

In response to the report, JAMB was commended for its diligent handling of the matter and providing comprehensive information about its interactions with the candidate. The panel hopes that the uncovering of the truth will rectify the sentiments, misconceptions, and deceptions surrounding the case.

The panel’s report concludes with gratitude towards Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for establishing the committee and placing confidence in its findings.
