2027: Katsina APC Affirms Governor Radda as Consensus Candidate

Party delegates unanimously endorse incumbent governor for re-election as leaders call for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Dikko Radda has emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate in Katsina State for the 2027 elections after receiving unanimous endorsement from 160 delegates during the party’s affirmation exercise.

The Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Governor Dikko Radda as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation exercise took place on Thursday in Katsina under the supervision of officials from the party’s national headquarters.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the Governorship Consensus Exercise, Dr. Yakubu Maccido, announced that 160 delegates unanimously endorsed Governor Radda as the party’s candidate.

According to Maccido, the process followed the provisions of the Electoral Act and APC guidelines, which require delegates to affirm a sole aspirant through a voice vote.

Following the exercise, he officially declared Radda as the APC consensus candidate for the governorship election in Katsina State and also presented declaration of result forms for other elective positions to party leaders.

The APC National Vice Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Datti Garba, commended members for conducting the exercise peacefully and in an orderly manner.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, described Katsina as one of the states where the consensus approach was successfully adopted without internal disputes.

Former Katsina governor Aminu Masari, who also chairs the reconciliation committee, urged party members and aspirants whose ambitions did not materialise to support Governor Dikko Radda and prioritise party unity.

Masari also advised the governor to remain inclusive by carrying all stakeholders along in governance and party affairs, describing the process in Katsina as successful and exemplary compared to developments in some other states.

He further called on residents to support the party and vote for APC candidates in the elections, including President Bola Tinubu.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Radda thanked Almighty Allah for preserving his life to witness the event and expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and members for giving him the opportunity to seek re-election unopposed.

He assured supporters that he would justify the confidence reposed in him and continue working for the growth and success of the APC at all levels.
