Umahi Orders Reopening of Completed Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road Sections for Sallah Travel
Minister says move is aimed at easing traffic, improving safety, and ensuring smoother movement during the Eid al-Adha holiday period.
The Federal Government has directed the immediate reopening of completed sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road to facilitate easier travel during the Sallah celebrations. Authorities say security personnel have been deployed along the corridor to enhance safety and maintain order.
ABUJA — The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has ordered the contractor handling the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road reconstruction project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all completed sections of the highway to support increased movement during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
According to the minister, the directive is intended to provide safer and more convenient travel conditions for commuters expected to use the road during the festive period.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his Media Aide, Francis Nwaze, Umahi explained that the decision forms part of efforts to reduce travel disruptions and improve road accessibility during the holiday season.
He further disclosed that an earlier accident recorded along the corridor had been completely cleared, while security agencies had been stationed at strategic locations to maintain order and ensure the safety of travelers.
The minister reassured road users that adequate measures had been put in place to support smooth movement throughout the Sallah holidays.
Some sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road had previously been closed to allow contractors continue ongoing reconstruction works aimed at improving the highway’s long-term condition and travel experience.
