Igboho Awaits Federal Approval to Launch Security Outfit Against Criminals in South-West Forests
Yoruba nation activist says Iru Ekun Security Network is prepared to work with security agencies and comply with Oyo State regulations
Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says he is awaiting Federal Government approval to begin operations of the Iru Ekun Security Network, a private security initiative aimed at tackling criminal activities across forests in South-West Nigeria.
Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has stated that he is awaiting approval from the Federal Government to officially commence operations of his security outfit, the Iru Ekun Security Network.
According to Igboho, the initiative is designed to support efforts aimed at removing criminal elements from forests and improving security across South-West Nigeria.
In a statement released to journalists on Monday, he disclosed that all necessary documentation and procedural requirements for the registration and approval of the security organisation had already been submitted to the Federal Government.
He expressed confidence that approval would be granted and said the security network is fully prepared to begin operations once authorisation is received.
Igboho also praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as its commitment to strengthening national security and addressing insecurity across different regions of the country.
He explained that the proposed security outfit intends to collaborate with existing security institutions including the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant agencies.
According to him, the goal is to support efforts against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities, especially in rural communities where insecurity continues to affect residents and economic activities.
The activist also declared his willingness to comply with the Executive Order introduced by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to regulate private security operations within the state.
He said the network is committed to supporting lawful measures aimed at maintaining peace and strengthening security across Oyo State and other parts of Yorubaland.
Igboho further stressed that sustainable economic growth and agricultural productivity depend heavily on maintaining peace and security, particularly in rural areas that contribute significantly to food production and local livelihoods.
