The Police Command in Kano State has initiated an investigation into the tragic incident involving the alleged beheading of a minor, Mohammed Saidu, by a 16-year-old almajiri in Kanwa village, Madobi local government area.
Kano Police Commissioner, Usaini Gumel, disclosed on Friday that the young victim was reportedly killed by the teenage suspect, identified as Abdullahi from Zamfara. The suspect was found at the crime scene holding a blood-stained knife.
After conducting a search, the police discovered the headless body of Saidu in a nearby primary school. The remains were promptly moved to a hospital for examination before being released to the family for burial.
In an attempt to protect the suspect from potential mob violence, the police took Abdullahi to the village head’s house. However, enraged residents managed to overpower the village head and mobbed the teenager.
Upon the arrival of the police, the suspect confessed to the gruesome act, revealing that he had disposed of the victim’s head in a pit toilet near the primary school. He was immediately taken to Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care.
