On Tuesday evening, pandemonium erupted in Onitsha Main Market, Anambra State, as a shocking incident unfolded, resulting in the death of an unidentified businessman. According to reports, the businessman had hired a labourer to assist him with unloading goods at his warehouse, located in the section of the market known for selling baking materials.

The exact cause of the tragic event remains unclear, but witnesses at the scene disclosed that an argument over payment escalated between the labourer and the businessman, sparking the violent altercation.

Although it is yet to be determined if the businessman was also robbed, unconfirmed sources suggest that the labourer may have fled with the deceased’s belongings.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source revealed, “Trouble started when the businessman was suddenly discovered lying in a pool of his own blood, while the Hausa man he had hired was nowhere to be found. While the exact sequence of events remains unknown, there is suspicion that the labourer may have stabbed the businessman and absconded with his money.”

Authorities swiftly deployed security personnel to the crime scene upon receiving the report. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals unfortunately confirmed his demise.

Preliminary investigations indicate that this was an act of murder, unrelated to a robbery, as all the goods in the warehouse remained undisturbed. As the investigation unfolds, the Onitsha community remains in shock, grieving the loss of a fellow businessman while demanding justice for the heinous act that occurred within their midst.
