PIB passes second reading in Senate

 

The Petroleum Industry Bill 2020 on Tuesday passed for second reading by the Senate.

The Leader of the Senate, Yahaya Abdullahi, led the debate for the proposed legislation

Senators who contributed to the debate expressed their reservations and suggestions.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, then directed the committees on Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Downstream) and that of Gas to begin the necessary legislative engagement on it.

The Senate thereafter adjourned plenary till November 24 to enable the standing committees to begin to attend to budget defence from the various heads of the ministries, departments, and agencies.
