RCCG Clarifies: Pastor Adeboye Has Never Campaigned for Any Government
Church says General Overseer remains politically neutral, urges public to disregard claims of political endorsement
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed allegations that Pastor Enoch Adeboye has campaigned for any ruling government, insisting he has consistently maintained a neutral stance on partisan politics while encouraging civic participation.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has debunked claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has ever campaigned for any government in power, stressing that he has remained politically neutral throughout his ministry.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the church’s Public Relations unit said Pastor Adeboye has consistently encouraged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections by voting for candidates of their choice, without endorsing any political party.
The church also dismissed reports alleging that the cleric called off a planned protest, clarifying that he only conveyed directives from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding adjustments to a scheduled three-day prayer programme and rally.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the Three Day Prayer Program in a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue,” the statement said.
RCCG further rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye has been silent on national issues, stating that he has spoken on matters such as insecurity, governance, corruption, and economic hardship, often through moral guidance and prayer rather than political commentary.
The church emphasized that its leader’s approach has always been based on spiritual counsel rather than partisan involvement.
“Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts,” the statement added.
RCCG also urged journalists, bloggers, and the public to verify all information through its official communication channels before publishing or sharing.
