‘Resign Now’: PRP Declares No Nigerian Is Safe Under Tinubu’s Government

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, accusing his administration of failing in its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

The opposition party said the country’s security situation has deteriorated to a dangerous level, with banditry, terrorism, kidnappings, and violent attacks spreading across multiple regions.

The position was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.

‘No Nigerian Feels Safe Anymore’

According to the PRP, insecurity has become so widespread that no category of citizen can confidently claim to be safe.

The party argued that violent criminals continue to exploit weaknesses in Nigeria’s security architecture while citizens live under constant fear.

“It is now beyond doubt that President Bola Tinubu has failed woefully in discharging his foremost responsibility as President of Nigeria: securing the lives and property of Nigerian citizens,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He added that insecurity is no longer confined to traditionally troubled areas.

“From generals to toddlers; from Bama to Badagry, no Nigerian appears safe under this leadership.”

Security Crisis Expanding Nationwide

The PRP said criminal elements have continued to expand their operations across the country, targeting communities, travellers, schools, and other vulnerable groups.

According to the party, the growing number of attacks demonstrates that the current security strategy is not producing the desired results.

“Today, Nigerians across the country live under the shadow of rampant violence perpetrated by criminals who continue to exploit the nation’s security weaknesses,” Baba-Ahmed stated.

Concern Over School Attacks

The party expressed particular concern about the increasing attacks on educational institutions and the kidnapping of schoolchildren.

It warned against normalising such incidents, saying Nigerians must resist accepting insecurity as a permanent feature of daily life.

“Schoolchildren have joined the growing list of soft targets, while the country appears dangerously close to accepting this grim reality as normal.”

The PRP described the trend as unacceptable and called for urgent measures to restore confidence in public safety.

‘Tinubu Has Concentrated Power But Failed to Deliver Security’

Baba-Ahmed also criticised what he described as the concentration of political authority at the centre without corresponding improvements in security outcomes.

According to him, despite possessing significant executive powers, the administration has not effectively used them to address the country’s security challenges.

“President Tinubu has failed the nation, and there is little evidence that he can reverse his dismal record.”

Calls for Immediate Resignation

The opposition party insisted that Nigerians facing daily security threats cannot afford to wait until the next general election before demanding accountability.

According to the PRP chairman, leadership must be judged by performance, particularly on matters of public safety.

“President Tinubu should resign now,” Baba-Ahmed declared.

He argued that citizens who continue to suffer the consequences of violent crime deserve urgent action rather than political promises.

Demand for Accountability

The party maintained that democratic governance requires accountability and responsibility from elected leaders.

It urged Nigerians to speak out against insecurity and demand more effective measures to protect lives and property.

While acknowledging that the President may choose to await the verdict of voters in 2027, the PRP stressed that victims of insecurity do not have the luxury of waiting years for relief.

The party concluded by urging citizens to unite in demanding stronger leadership and a more effective response to Nigeria’s escalating security challenges.
