Jailbreak: Edo State Government Imposes 24-hours Curfew

 

Edo State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew across the state beginning from 4p.m. today until further notice.

This is contained in a statement issued by Secretary to State Government, Mr. Osarodion Ogie ans made available to Radio Nigeria.

According to the statement, the curfew became necessary due to disturbing incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #ENDSARS protesters.

It emphasized that while Edo State government respected the rights of its citizens to undertake in legitimate protests, it would not sit idly when hoodlums have taken laws into their hands to cause mayhem on innocent citizens and the state.

The statement further directed schools and businesses to shut down activities while those who cannot move safely have been advised to stay put till calmness was restored.

It also advised parents to rein in their children, youths and wards, to forestall further breakdown of law and order as anyone found outside in violation of the curfew would be dealt with according to the law.
