Suspected gunmen have killed a lawmaker in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Musa Baraza.
Aparr from.killing the legislator, the gunmen also reportedly kidnapped his two wives and one-year-old child.
The tragic incident happened on Thursday night when they invaded Baraza’s residence in the Dass Local Government Area.
The lawmaker represented Dass Constituency in the House before his death.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday morning.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, however, said a crack team of police personnel have been mobilised to the area to commence an immediate investigation to rescue the victims and nab the perpetrators.
Wakili said no arrest has been made so far.
“Yes, the lawmaker was killed by unknown gunmen, they abducted his wives and his one-year-old daughter,” he said.
“Presently, the police are on the trail of the suspects but no arrest has been made so far.”
