The police in Benue State has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Dr. Karl Kwaghger, a lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
Kwaghger was found in a pool of blood at J.S. Tarka Foundation where he went to relax, on November 28.
A statement released by spokesperson of the Benue Police Command, Catherine Anene, on Saturday said police detectives were deployed to the scene where they met the victim brutally stabbed on his ribs and cut on his neck.
The lecturer was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital where he was confirmed dead and deposited at the morgue.
The statement disclosed that one Nnamdi Jeremiah, a native of Umigwe village, in Imo State, a student of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, was arrested in Abuja where he went to sale Kwaghger’s car.
The suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that his initial intention was to threaten the victim with a make believe gun and rob him of the car but he ended up killing him after he resisted.
The police spokesperson said further investigation is being conducted on the matter.
