The Abia State government has dismissed as false, mischievous and deceptive claims by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu asked residents doctors to forfeit their salary arrears.
The state government said the governor at no time ask either doctors or any other worker in the state to forfeit any salary arrears.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the government
asked the general public to disregard such information.
The commissioner said the administration of Governor Okezie remained determined to continue to support ailing state parastatals to pay workers regularly and clear due arrears.
He said the government has been regularly paying state workers in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) without owing any month in arrears.
