President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday approved a special salary scale for teachers across the country.
The approval was announced at an event held to mark the commemoration of the World Teachers Day on October 5, in Abuja.
Buhari also increased teachers’ number of years of service from 35 to 40.
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who represented Buhari at the 2020 World Teachers Day celebration on Monday, said the new salary scheme is aimed at motivating teachers for greater performance.
