The Managing Director of the Lekki Concession Company, Mr Abayomi Omomuwa said on Tuesday that the surveillance camera at Lekki Toll Gate, which captured activities on October 20 when the alleged shootings of #EndSARS protesters occurred, stopped recording at about 8pm.
Omomuwa, said the camera network was interfered with and stopped recording.
The LCC boss who spoke while testifying before a Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State Government to probe the Lekki shootings as well as complaints of human rights abuses against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, however said the development was not caused by them.
The LCC, operators of the Lekki toll gate, tendered the video footage to the panel.
Omomuwa said: “I can confirm that inside here is the video footage that our surveillance camera was able to record for the 20th of October.”
He further disclosed that neither he nor any member of his staff witnessed shootings of protesters at Lekki Toll Gate.
He said following the 4pm curfew announced by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his staff vacated the toll gate.
The curfew was subsequently moved till 9pm.
Soldiers have been accused of opening fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
