Officers of NSCDC take COVID-19 vaccine

Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have started to get their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The flag off of the exercise commenced yesterday at the National Headquarters of the NSCDC in Abuja with the Commandant General(CG) of the corps, Dr Ahmed Audi receiving his first jab of the vaccine.

Other members of the management team, some staff and their spouses later received the vaccine.

Audi, after receiving the vaccine, called on officers and men of the Corps to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Federal government through the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination to get vaccinated.

He noted that the whole world is passing through a pandemic and without good health, the personnel cannot perform their task of securing the country effectively.

The NSCDC boss said: “Civil Defence Corps is an agency of government and we are lucky to be selected among those who are to be vaccinated under this batch of the vaccine because if we are healthy, we will fight the current problem of insecurity head on. We are frontline workers, we need to be vaccinated in order to protect ourselves.

“We have about 50,000 personnel nationwide and I will be glad if all my men will be vaccinated because that will boost their health and their morale.”
