In a recent announcement, the Nigerian government has declared Wednesday and Thursday, 28 and 29 June 2023, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade, conveyed the news in an official statement on Monday.
With heartfelt felicitations, the government extended warm wishes to the Muslim Ummah both within the country and across the diaspora. Encouraging all Nigerians, irrespective of their faith, the government emphasized the importance of making sacrifices for the betterment and development of communities and the nation as a whole.
The government expressed optimism that the prayers and sacrifices associated with this significant celebration, along with the core message of Eid-ei-Kabir, will foster peace, unity, and progress throughout Nigeria.
As Muslims worldwide prepare to observe Eid-el-Kabir, Nigerian Muslims will join their counterparts around the globe in celebrating this auspicious occasion on Wednesday. The festivities follow the culmination of Muslims pilgrims’ journey in Saudi Arabia, as they ascend Mount Arafat a day prior.
