LMC uses Points Per Game to decide ‎Nigeria’s flagbearers for CAF club competitions‎

The League Management Company (LMC) have confirmed Nigeria’s representatives for the 2020/2021 Confederations of African Football (CAF) continental club competitions.

The league was suspended at Week 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic and no‎ team was declared winner or relegated. ‎

However, the LMC has used the  Points Per Game method (PPG) to determine the teams that will fly Nigeria’s flag on the continent.

After using the PPG, Plateau United was top of the table with 1.96 coefficient while former African champions, Enyimba, ended as the runners up with 1.80.

Rivers United was tied on the same coefficient with Enyimba (1.80) but LMC used Head-to-Head to decide who comes second.‎

Enyimba took the second position due to a better Head-to-Head record against Rivers United.

As a result of the development, Plateau United and Enyimba are to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League while Rivers United will join Kano Pillars as the country’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup. ‎

Kano Pillars got the other slot to r‎epresent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup for winning the 2018/19 AITEO Cup.‎
