Aides of NASS members demand equal pay package with parliamentary staff

‎The National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum, the umbrella body of aides to members of the National Assembly, have asked for the same salary scale as staff of the National Assembly.

The legislative aides, in a statement, said they deserve equal treatment with members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria since all of them are employees of the National Assembly Service Commission.‎‎‎

Chairman of the legislative aides forum, Salisu Zuru, made the demand during a courtesy call on the Chairman of the NASC, Ahmed Amshi.‎

Zuru noted that legislative aides are remunerated in accordance with the 2010 Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure instead of the revised 2018 version being used to pay members of PASAN.

He urged the National Assembly Service Commission to take immediate steps to correct the anomaly.‎

Amshi promised to address the situation, noting that the legislative aides were employees of the commission and must not be treated otherwise.
