FRSC Applauds Dangote Cement Over Improved Road Safety Measures

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commended Dangote Cement Plc for implementing transport safety policies that have led to significant improvements in road safety across Nigeria.

The agency described the company as a model for transport management and safety practices, noting that its reforms have contributed to a substantial reduction in crashes involving articulated trucks.

Speaking during a visit to the FRSC Headquarters, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, praised Dangote Cement for setting high standards in transport safety management and encouraged the company to sustain its safety initiatives.

According to the Corps Marshal, comparative data between 2025 and 2026 showed a 56 per cent decline in road crashes involving Dangote Cement trucks.

He also disclosed that fatalities linked to the company’s trucks dropped by 36 per cent, while injuries decreased by 52 per cent within the same period.

Mohammed attributed the improvements to the effective implementation of Dangote Cement’s transport safety policies and operational reforms, including its Gap Analysis framework.

He stated that the company’s approach should serve as a benchmark for logistics operators not only in Nigeria but across Africa.

The FRSC boss further noted that successful safety practices by major industry players can positively impact national road safety and improve transport standards across the continent.

Earlier, the Head of Transport at Dangote Cement, Murilo Silva, highlighted the company’s investments in modern transport management systems aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing road safety.

According to him, the company has adopted advanced technologies such as automated vehicle inspection systems and artificial intelligence-driven solutions to strengthen operational safety and reduce transport-related risks.
