‎Forty schools in Jigawa State will resume today, Tuesday August 4, 2020.

The 40 schools are selected from public and private primary and secondary schools from the three senatorial zones of the state.‎‎

The development followed a directive issued by the state governor, ‎Mohammed Badaru, on Monday. ‎

‎The governor assured parents and guardians that other schools would be reopened gradually if there were improvements in terms of compliance with COVID-19 preventive measures in the selected 40 schools.‎

Badaru also directed all categories of civil servants in the state to return to work from Aug. 4.

The governor, who addressed journalists in Dutse, the state capital, directed the ministries of health and education to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 preventive measures.

‎Officers from level 12 and above had earlier resumed work following the partial easing of the lockdown in the state.

Badaru also announced that, currently, the state has no single COVID-19 patient.‎
